Who are We?
The Tanzania Human Genetics Organization (THGO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to coordinating human genetics research and activities in Tanzania to generate knowledge and provide recommendations for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of genetic diseases, while promoting overall health.
What we Do?
Research
Coordinating human genetics research by mapping resources, identifying gaps, fostering collaborations, proposing initiatives, and generating impactful outputs
Training
Implementing and facilitating short- and long-term training programs to build capacity in human genetics for healthcare workers, scientists, researchers, data experts, and policymakers
Advocacy
Collaborating with patient communities and partners to raise awareness of human genetics through multi-platform advocacy at the community, national, and international levels.
Diagnostics
Developing a diagnostic framework to map services and partners, guide patient referrals, and address diagnostic gaps through strategic collaborations.
Therapeutics
Identifying therapeutic needs for genetic disorders, advancing drug and gene therapy discoveries, and studying pharmacogenomics to enhance personalized medicine.
