Ms. Grantina Modern

Deputy General Secretary, THGO

Ms. Grantina is an early career researcher in biomedical sciences with growing experience in research, teaching, and management. She holds a MSc. in Life Sciences, specializing in Health and Biomedical Sciences, with a background in biology. Currently, she serves as an assistant lecturer at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology in Arusha (NM-AIST) and the executive committee member at the Tanzania Human Genetics Organization (THGO).

Ms. Grantina is generally interested in research and academia, public health, advocacy, and career guidance. Her research interests lie within genomics, microbiome, bioinformatics, and epidemiological studies in general. She is now a PhD fellow implementing a project entitled “Determination of enteric bacteriome profile as a possible biomarker for growth in children below two years of age in the Iringa region of Tanzania.
